WELCOME

The Network of Emergency Service Therapists (NEST) is an exciting new initiative that aims to establish a sustainable national network of experienced psychotherapists who can deliver effective and bespoke mental health treatment tailored specifically to the needs of emergency responders.

Research undertaken by Kings College London and The Open University and evidence gathered by The University of Cambridge demonstrated that a lack of understanding of the unique working conditions in this sector is severely impairing treatment uptake and successful outcomes. Until now, there has been no easy way of accessing a list of therapists with experience of working with the emergency service communities.

NEST is the first sustainable and collaborative model of treating mental health issues on the UK’s front line and will provide member organisations with direct access to experienced professionals.
In this pilot phase, Police Care UK will establish the network and use it to match police service beneficiaries to suitable therapists. Once established, other charities and relevant organisations will have the opportunity to access the network.
